Applies to: all Focusrite interfaces
With Adobe Audition, there are two options available when it comes to recording audio: software input monitoring or hardware input monitoring. These two options work differently.
If you prefer to monitor the input at near-zero latency, and do not require monitoring of the signal as it passes through the Audition software (e.g. software effects applied that want to be heard while recording), you can use our interface's hardware input monitor feature. Some will implement this through direct options on the front of the interface while others may utilize a control software (Scarlett MixControl, Saffire MixControl, Focusrite Control) to allow adjustments on signal routing. If unsure how this may be implemented for your particular Focusrite interface, more can be found within the documentation for the particular model.
If you require monitoring of the signal as it passes through the Audition software (e.g. software effects applied that want to be heard while recording), please enable the input monitor button “I” within the software to enable input monitor.
As a note to this, if “input monitoring” for the track being recorded is enabled while actively monitoring the direct inputs of the interface, it would result in hearing a doubled signal. To avoid this while monitoring the software signal, disable the direct monitor option for the interface.
