Applies to: Focusrite/Novation plug-ins
If you are having trouble with installing Plug Ins on a Mac, please see this video.
To get your Focusrite/Novation plugins installed properly on your Windows computer, please follow these steps.
Run the installer file you have downloaded.
On the third screen in the installer, you will see the path the files are being installed too. Make sure it reads:
C:\Program Files(x86)\VSTPlugins for 32-bit plugins
C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins for 64-bit plugins
***Note that if you are using a 32-bit version of Windows you will only have a Program Files folder and not Program Files(x86). Please use the regular Program Files folder C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins and install only the 32-bit versions***
If there is anything after that like \Focusrite or \Steinberg, just delete that from the end, so you see the path above.
If you have multiple Focusrite or Novation plug ins or plugins from any other brand, we would recommend installing them all in the above directories for simplicity. If they are all in different folders, Ableton Live may not be able to locate them all without changing the Custom Folder.
In Ableton Live, now go to Options > Preferences > Plugins > Plug-In Sources (at the bottom).
Make sure 'Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder' is set to On.
Make sure that the VST Plug-In Custom Folder is set to the same file path where you installed the Plug Ins, C:\Program Files(x86)\VSTPlugins or C:\Program Files\VST Plugins (depending on if you're using 32/64 bit versions).
***Note that Ableton Live 10+ only supports 64-bit meaning the plug-in path should be set to where this content is located and not the path for 32-bit plug-ins***
Hit Rescan or close and reload Live.
The plugins will now be present in Live's Plugins area.
