Applies to all audio interfaces.
Pro Tools Intro/Intro+
Pro Tools Intro and Intro+ are limited to 8 audio tracks, 8 instrument tracks and 8 MIDI tracks. This means that in Pro Tools Intro and Intro+, you will be able to see all of your device's inputs, however, only the first 4 inputs will record.
We have an example below of a Vocaster Two, where we have 14 available inputs, but only the first 4 inputs can be used to record audio.
You would be able to use:
- Inputs 1-4
Inputs 5-14 will not record in Pro Tools Intro/Intro+ in this instance.
Pro Tools Artist
Pro Tools Artist is limited to 32 audio tracks, 32 aux channels, 32 instrument tracks, 64 MIDI tracks, and 16 channels of I/O. This means you will be able to see all of your device's inputs, however, only the first 16 inputs will record into Pro Tools Artist.
Below is an example of a Clarett 8Pre USB. In Pro Tools, there are 20 available inputs, however, only the first 16 inputs can be used to record audio.
You would be able to use:
- Analogue Inputs 1-8
- S/PDIF Inputs 1-2 (9-10)
- ADAT Inputs 1-6 (11-16)
ADAT 7-8 will not record in Pro Tools Artist in this instance.
Pro Tools Studio
Pro Tools Studio allows for 512 audio tracks, 1024 MIDI tracks, 512 instrument tracks and 64 channels of simultaneous recording I/O.
This allows for all inputs for our Clarett, Scarlett and Vocaster ranges to be recorded simultaneously.
For example, if using a Scarlett 18i20 (4th Gen) you will be able to use:
- Analogue Inputs 1-8
- Loopback inputs (9-10)
- S/PDIF Inputs 1-2 (11-12)
- ADAT Inputs 1-8 (13-20)
Pro Tools Ultimate
Pro Tools Ultimate allows for 2048 audio tracks, 1024 MIDI tracks, 512 instrument tracks and 256 channels of simultaneous recording I/O.
As with Pro Tools Studio, this allows for all inputs for our Clarett, Scarlett and Vocaster ranges to be recorded simultaneously.
