Applies to Pro Tools and all Focusrite USB audio interfaces
Pro Tools Intro+ for Focusrite is part of the Hitmaker Expansion. If you have registered a qualifying Focusrite interface, you can redeem Pro Tools Intro+ for Focusrite from the My Software tab of your Focusrite account here.
This guide walks you through how to set up your Focusrite audio interface in Pro Tools, set up an audio track for recording, and start recording. To learn more about how to use Pro Tools, see Avid's Knowledge Base

Windows
Please make sure you've installed the Focusrite audio driver and control software before going through these steps. If you haven't installed the Focusrite audio driver or control software, download them from here.
- Open Pro Tools on your computer.

Click Setup → Playback Engine in the top menu bar.

Set the Playback Engine to Focusrite USB ASIO in the dropdown.

Click Setup → I/O... in the top menu bar.

Select the Input tab in the I/O setup window, and click Default. This will assign the physical inputs on your interface to inputs inside Pro Tools.

Select the Output tab in the I/O setup window, and click Default. This will assign the software outputs on your interface to outputs inside Pro Tools.
- Click OK to close the I/O setup window.
Please note, when using Pro Tools Intro+ for Focusrite, only the first 4 inputs of your interface can be used. Please see Pro Tools Channel Count for more information.

macOS
- Open Pro Tools on your computer.
- Click Setup → Playback Engine in the top menu bar.
- Set the Playback Engine to Scarlett 2i2 4th Generation or the name of the interface you're using in the dropdown.
- Click Setup → I/O... in the top menu bar.
- Select the Input tab in the I/O setup window, and click Default. This will assign the physical inputs on your interface to inputs inside Pro Tools.
- Select the Output tab in the I/O setup window, and click Default. This will assign the software outputs on your interface to outputs inside Pro Tools.
- Click OK to close the I/O setup window.
Please note, when using Pro Tools Intro+ for Focusrite, only the first 4 inputs of your interface can be used. Please see Pro Tools Channel Count for more information.

How to set up an audio track to record
- Click Track → New in the top menu bar.
- Set the number of tracks you need, set the channel configuration to Mono or Stereo, and set the type to Audio Track.
Set the channel configuration to Mono if you are recording with a single microphone or a mono instrument such as a bass or guitar.
Set the channel configuration to Stereo if you are recording with a stereo pair of microphones or a stereo instrument such as a keyboard or synthesiser.
- Click Create
- Click Window → Mix.
- Set the input drop-down to the interface input you are using, e.g. 1.
- Click the record arm
and input enable
buttons on the track. This allows you to hear sound coming in from your Scarlett's input.
- Click the main Record Enable button
at the top of the Pro Tools window, it turns red when enabled
.
- Click the Play button
to begin recording.
