Applies to Adobe Audition and all Focusrite USB audio interfaces
This guide walks you through how to setup your Focusrite audio interface in Audition, setup an audio track for recording, and start recording. To learn more about how to use Audtion, see Adobe's Help Centre:

Windows
Please make sure you've installed the Focusrite audio driver and control software before going through these steps. If you haven't installed the Focusrite audio driver or control software, download them from here.
- Open Audition on your computer.
- In the top menu bar, click Edit → Preferences → Audio Hardware...
- In the Audio Hardware tab, set the Device Class to ASIO, and the Device to Focusrite USB ASIO.
- Click OK.

macOS
- Open Audition on your computer.
- In the top menu bar, click Adobe Audition → Settings → Audio Hardware...
- In the Audio Hardware tab, set the Device Class to Core Audio, and the Device to Scarlett 2i2 4th Generation or the name of the interface you're using.
- Click OK.

How to set up an audio track to record
- In the top menu bar, click Multitrack → Tracks → Add Mono Track or Add Stereo Track, depending on the audio source being recorded.
Set the channel configuration to Mono if you are recording with a single microphone or a mono instrument such as a bass or guitar connected to input 1.
Set the channel configuration to Stereo if you are recording with a stereo pair of microphones or a stereo instrument such as a keyboard or synthesiser connected to inputs 1-2.
- Set the audio input in the drop-down menu to the interface input you are using, e.g. Mono > Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen: Input 1.

Click the Record Arm button on the relevant track to enable it for recording. If you need to use software monitoring rather than direct monitoring, you can also enable this by selecting the input monitoring button to the right of the record arm button.

- Click Record in Audition's transport to start recording.
