If you are unable to use your interface as an input or output device on macOS, you should check that the Mac is detecting the interface on a hardware level in your Mac System Report as follows:
macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) - macOS 12 (Monterey)
Go to:
Apple logo (top-left of Mac display) > About This Mac > System Report > Hardware > USB
If your device is seen at a hardware level, it will appear under the 'USB Device Tree' section:
If the interface appears correctly under the Hardware > USB tab but is not appearing under the Hardware > Sound tab, try resetting the Mac Audio Preferences: Audio issues on macOS, how to reset Audio Preferences
If your interface does not appear under the Hardware > USB tab, please test another USB cable (no longer than 2 meters/6 feet), and all the USB ports available on the Mac.
macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
Go to:
Apple logo (top-left of Mac display) > About This Mac > More Info... > Scroll down the About section > System Report > Hardware > USB
