Applies to the Vocaster range
If your Vocaster is not appearing in Vocaster Hub, first, please check you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Vocaster Hub:
Loose USB connection
A slightly loose USB connection can prevent Vocaster being recognised by your computer, or receiving sufficient power. Try pushing the USB cable firmly into the USB-C port on the rear of the interface, so it ‘clicks’ into place; this may resolve any power or connection issues you are experiencing.
Windows and Mac troubleshooting
If you're still experiencing issues, select your operating system below to see the next steps.
Windows
On Windows systems, you can look in Device Manager to check your interface is being listed correctly:
- Right-click
Start and open Device Manager.
- Focusrite interfaces should appear under both: Sound, video and game controllers and Focusrite Audio.
If your interface is not shown in Device Manager, please try the steps below.
- Ensure your Vocaster is connected to one of your computer's USB ports. Test a different USB port as well, ideally on another side of your computer.
- If your Vocaster is connected via a USB hub, try connecting it directly to a port on your computer instead.
- Try another USB cable, in case the one you're using is faulty. Ensure that it is no longer than 2 metres or 6 feet, and it is USB 2.0 (480Mbps) or above.
- If you have not restarted your computer since installing Vocaster Hub, try restarting it.
We have seen an installation issue that appears on some Windows machines that prevents Vocaster Hub from detecting your device. If you encounter this issue, you will likely see the error message below when running the installer:
You may also see the error below when trying to open Focusrite Notifier:
To fix this, please try removing any old Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable installations using this Microsoft troubleshooting tool: Fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed.
The steps below outline how to remove old Redistributable installations with this troubleshooter:
- Download the troubleshooter via the link above.
- Run the troubleshooter by double-clicking the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta file. This may be located in your Downloads folder.
- Click Next.
- Click Uninstalling.
- Select the relevant Visual C++ Redistributable version and select Next. The version you should select will be flagged in the error message you see when running the Vocaster Hub installer:
- Select Yes, try uninstall and wait for the troubleshooter to finish.
- Now, try running the Vocaster Hub installer again.
If you experience any issues completing the steps with the troubleshooter described above, please contact support: Submit a request | Focusrite.
macOS
If you have any other Focusrite software (Focusrite Control or RedNet Control) on your computer, make sure you have the latest version from here — sometimes Vocaster Hub will not detect your interface when you have other, older Focusrite software installed.
To confirm whether your interface is recognised by your Mac, you can check the system report:
Apple (top-left of Mac display) → About This Mac
macOS Catalina 10.15 to macOS Monterey 12
Select System Report
macOS Ventura 13 onwards
Select More Info…
Scroll down the About section
Select System Report
If your interface is being seen at a hardware level, it will appear in Hardware → USB:
If your interface is not shown in the System Report, please try the steps below.
- Ensure your Vocaster is connected to one of your computer's USB port. Test a different USB port as well, ideally on another side of your computer.
- If your Vocaster is connected via a USB hub, try connecting it directly to a port on your computer instead.
- Try another USB cable in case the one you're using is faulty. Ensure that it is no longer than two metres and is USB 2.0 (480Mbps) or above.
- If you have not restarted your computer since installing Vocaster Hub, try restarting it.
