Applies to all audio interfaces
Discord are aware of a problem that can cause audio to glitch or cut in and out on their Mac desktop app. This affects all audio interfaces on the market, not just Focusrite audio interfaces.

Workaround Method
Use the Discord Web application
From our limited testing, the Discord web application did not experience this issue: discord.com/app
When using the web application, be sure to 'Allow' your browser to access your microphone under System Settings > Privacy and Security > Microphone, and when Discord asks to access your microphone, in browser.
If the above method does not work, please follow below.
Use the Desktop application with a DAW and BlackHole
- Install BlackHole 2ch from the link here: existential.audio/blackhole
- Open a DAW. In this demo, we will be using GarageBand.
- Once on the Create New Track menu, ensure Mic or Line is selected, and click Details.
- Set the Input to the input in which your microphone is connected to your interface, and tick I want to hear my instrument as I play and record.
- Click the
icon next to My instrument is connected with.
- Under Devices, set the Output Device to BlackHole 2ch. Set the Input Device to the name of your interface (eg: Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen).
- You GarageBand settings should match that of the image below. Click Create.
- Open the Discord desktop app.
- Click Settings > Voice and Video.
- Set the Microphone to BlackHole 2ch and the Speaker to the name of your interface (eg: Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen).
- Click Mic Test to confirm your setup is working.
