If your Scarlett is unable to detect a usable signal while the Auto Gain process is running, Focusrite Control 2 shows the following error message:

This includes all unusable signals, including signals that are too loud. If you see this error message, we recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps:

• Ensure the input you are using has something connected to it.
• If using a condenser microphone, ensure 48V (phantom power) is on.
• Ensure you're making sound while the Auto Gain runs.
• Ensure the signal is not too loud. If you are using the XLR inputs for a line level device (synths, guitar amp sims), use the jack inputs instead. If it's possible to turn down the output of the connected device, also try this.
• Turn up the gain on the input you are using to 25-50% before starting Auto Gain, as the signal might be too quiet for the Scarlett to detect.
