How do I use the inserts on Clarett OctoPre?

Each analogue input on Clarett OctoPre and Clarett+ OctoPre has an unbalanced insert point that you can use to send the signal from the preamp to external effects, and then return the effected signal to the same channel.

The insert points are unbalanced, inputting and outputting via a single 6.35mm (¼″) TRS connector.

You can split this into send and return with a TRS Y-splitter cable, or connect it to a device that also inputs and outputs via a single TRS connector.

To turn the insert point on for a channel, do the following:

  1. Press the INSERT button to the right of the meters. This will switch the INSERT/AIR buttons for each channel to insert mode.
    The main insert function button can be found on the front of the OctoPre, towards the right-hand side of the unit, on the right of the rectangular panel that contains the meters. There are four buttons on this panel, arranged in a square. The insert button is the top left of these four buttons.
  2. Beneath the gain dial for the channel, press the INSERT/AIR button to activate the insert. The LED will light to indicate that the insert is active.
    The insert button for each channel is found immediately below each channel's gain dial.
