Applies to Scarlett Solo and 2i2 (4th Generation)
Some apps have a limitation which means they only accept Input 1 from audio interfaces.
Toggling Combine Input 1 and Input 2 allows applications that can usually only receive one input to receive both inputs (line/inst and mic).
To enable this feature in Focusrite Control 2:
- Open Focusrite Control 2, head to Preferences > Device.
- Enable the tick box next to Combine Input 1 and Input 2.
Or, to enable this using the hardware, press and hold the front panel Direct button for three seconds.
When this mode is enabled:
Scarlett Solo: The channel number LEDs both light green (they are white by default).
Scarlett 2i2: The channel number LEDs will flash green twice when the setting is toggled.
We recommend you disable this feature when recording in DAW software, which allows you to select the input channel you wish to record.
This feature is also useful when using apps which accept both inputs from Solo or 2i2, but will pan Input 1 fully left and Input 2 fully right. This is not generally an issue when using a DAW, as you can change the input source to mono and record each input on a separate track (see here for more details).
