Applies to Soundtrap and all Focusrite audio interfaces
This guide walks you through how to setup your Focusrite audio interface in Soundtrap, setup an audio track for recording, and start recording. To learn more about how to use Soundtrap, see Soundtrap's Help Centre:
If using Soundtrap in a web browser, Soundtrap recommends using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge Chromium. Some audio features might not be fully supported, due to restrictions in different browsers and operating systems.
- Open Soundtrap and log into your account.
- From the main menu, click New music project.
- Click Add new track and select Voice & Mic.
- Using the dropdown menu, enable Advanced and select the name of the interface you're using.
- Using the number drop down menu, set the input to the input you are using on your interface.
When using Soundtrap in a web browser, Soundtrap records mono inputs only. Selecting a stereo input will mono sum the inputs. To record a stereo input, create two tracks and hard pan each track left and right or use the desktop application.
- Skip the Volume Calibration, when using an audio interface. The gain control on the front panel sets the input level instead of the device's operating system.
- Click the record mode
(off) and monitor
(off) buttons to enable the track for recording
(on) and to hear the input
(on).
- Click the record
button in Soundtrap's transport.
