You don't need to register your interface in order to download the driver or control software.

If you have an interface that uses Mix Control or Focusrite Control, the driver will be installed at the same time if it's needed. This means you only need to download the control software. These units include:

• All Scarlett 3rd Generation interfaces
• Scarlett 2nd Generation 6i6, 18i8, 18i20
  
• Scarlett 1st Generation 6i6, 8i6, 18i6, 18i8, 18i20
• All Clarett USB interfaces
• All Clarett+ interfaces
• All Saffire interfaces

The following interfaces don't need control software, but still need a driver on Windows systems:

• Scarlett 2nd Gen Solo, 2i2, 2i4
• Scarlett 1st Gen Solo, 2i2, 2i4
• iTrack Solo
• Saffire 6 USB 2.0

The Saffire 6 USB 1.1 requires a driver on both Mac and Windows systems, but it is no longer supported. Please see this article for more information.

The Clarett Thunderbolt interfaces need a driver to work on Mac systems, and this needs to be downloaded and installed separately to the Focusrite Control software.
