This applies to the Liquid Channel
Choice of preamp and compressor emulation is not something that can be dictated but is down to taste, style of track, choice of mic and many other variables.
Your ears will tell you what works and what does not.
You may find a particular preamp works really well on a guitar that you often record, but someone else may disagree with the choice of preamp or compressor. Neither person is correct since different things can sound good to different people. What sounds good to you will dictate how you use the unit and what emulations you choose, therefore we feel it is not appropriate to give instructions on what emulations should be used where.
It is a good idea to get used to the range of sounds that the Liquid Channel offers. If you are not familiar with the gear it emulates, then it will be difficult to discover and remember the sonic characteristics of each emulation. We suggest comparing the following emulations as a starting point to getting to know the unit a bit better:
Preamps:
- US 60S TUBE 1
- US CLASSIC DISCRETE 1
- DEUTSCH 60S TUBE 1
Compressors:
- US VINTAGE TUBE 1
- BRIT 70S CLASS A 1
- US MODERN SOLID STATE 1A
NOTE: these are the factory emulation V2.0 names.
