Applies to Scarlett 4th Gen Solo & 2i2
The Scarlett Solo 4th Gen & 2i2 4th Gen feature the same Direct Monitoring button found on the previous generations. However, unlike with previous generations, it is now possible to adjust the Direct Monitor mix via the Direct tab in Focusrite Control 2.
After navigating to the Direct tab, you will be presented with the screen shown below. By default, Direct Monitor is turned off, and must be enabled to hear the mix.
You can enable Direct Monitor by either pressing the corresponding button on the front of the interface or engaging the Direct Monitor control in Focusrite Control 2:
Once Direct Monitoring is enabled, any adjustments you make to the faders will affect your headphone/line output signal. You will also now see output metering for the Direct Monitor mix on the right-hand side of the window.
If you are using the Scarlett 2i2 4th Gen there is also the option of Mono or Stereo direct monitoring for the 2 analogue inputs. Enabling stereo will pan input 1 to the left and input 2 to the right, and can be toggled using the Direct button on the front of the device or mono / stereo button that sits between the channel strips:
